|  About “Schwaben” “Schwaben” (Swabia) consists of much of the eastern part of present-day state of Baden-Württemberg, as well as the Bavarian administrative region of Schwaben (Swabia). Schwaben also refers to the inhabitants of this region who speak the dialect of this region. Schwaben (the people inhabiting this region) are considered frugal, clever, entrepreneurial and hard-working. Baden-Württemberg is today the most successful economic region in Germany. Many businesses that started in this region considered mid-sized businesses are family businesses that now have revenues well in excess of $1 billion. Many of these businesses are now global companies such as “Mercedes-Benz”, initially Daimler-Benz (Gottlieb Daimler and Karl Benz), Liebherr, Festo and Kärcher. “Häfele” furniture hardware, “Stihl” chainsaws and many others. Other famous personalities that came from this area are Albert Einstein (physicist who developed the theory of relativity), Rudolf Diesel (inventor of the diesel engine), Robert Bosch (inventor and founder of Robert Bosch GMBH) and Carl Laemmle (founder of Universal Studios in Hollywood) among many others.
